The Earth gets polluted through household garbage and industrial waste. Many of the pollutants that dirty the water also harm the land. Mining leaves the soil contaminated with dangerous chemicals. Since some pesticides and fertilizers are moved by the wind, they can harm plants, animals, and people.
Some consequences appear on food, for example when fruits and vegetables absorb the pesticides and people consume those fruits and vegetables, the pesticides enter in their bodies and can cause cancer and other diseases.
On the same hand, garbage contains dangerous pollutants like oils, chemicals, and ink. These pollutants can reach into the soil and harm plants, animals, and people. Inefficient garbage collection systems contribute to land pollution since the garbage is picked up and brought to a dump or landfill. Pollutants leaked from landfills, also leak into local groundwater supplies. The aquatic food web gets affected through the bioaccumulation of chemicals. Some communities do not have garbage collection systems nor trash lines on the sides of roads. In other places, garbage reaches the beaches.
Air pollution: Air pollution is a mix of particles and gases that reach harmful concentrations. Its effects can range from higher disease risks to rising temperatures. Some examples of common pollutants are soot, smoke, mold, pollen, methane, and carbon dioxide.
Inhaling air pollution takes away 1-2 years of human life. Also, some effects of air pollution are burning eyes, throat irritation, breathing problems and death. Air pollution can have serious costs and reactions towards human health and can also cause distress. The main results of air pollution are global warming, acid rain, smog, and ozone depletion.
